This book of needles is actually made in Germany even though the cover art is strictly American and dated 1909. I think it’s interesting that the needles inside are not in the least bit rusty even though they are over a hundred years old!

This could come in handy when the natural gas dries up. Yeah, you’d have to chop some wood for it and regulating the temperature might be tricky but hey, it’s better than a campfire.

Princess Adelaide of France.

Princess Louise-Elizabeth of France.

Princess Victoire of France.

These four women were painted by Jean-Marc Nattier (1685-1766) in Paris.

This portrait of Auguste-Gabriel Godefroy was painted by Jean-Baptiste-Simeon Chardin (1699-1779) circa 1741. A version of this painting is in the Louvre.

If you were a kid in the 1700s it’s unlikely that you would have your portrait painted unless, of course, you were the the Duke of Berry and the Count of Provence. Mom and Dad most likely paid some major bucks for this work of art. These children were painted by Francois-Hubert Drouais (1727-1775) of Paris.
