<p>The great thing about symbols is we connect to them either on a conscious or unconscious level. The anchor is a symbol of hope and is sometimes used in conjunction with the heart (charity) and the cross (faith).  Sailors would tattoo their arms with anchors signifying their expertise in having crossed the Atlantic Ocean. If you sit at a desk and report the news then you&#8217;re a news anchor.</p>
