These four women were painted by Jean-Marc Nattier (1685-1766) in Paris.

This portrait of Auguste-Gabriel Godefroy was painted by Jean-Baptiste-Simeon Chardin (1699-1779) circa 1741. A version of this painting is in the Louvre.

If you were a kid in the 1700s it’s unlikely that you would have your portrait painted unless, of course, you were the the Duke of Berry and the Count of Provence. Mom and Dad most likely paid some major bucks for this work of art. These children were painted by Francois-Hubert Drouais (1727-1775) of Paris.

I suppose scrap is just a part of life. Whatever you make, whether it be a fine meal, a couture dress or a greeting card, there will always be bits and pieces that are left over. Fortunately, some scrap is digital and easily stored on the hard drive rather than cluttering up the house.

The face of an angel!

This boy must feel lost if he’s running away from home. Also lost is the object that his elbow was resting on. Hopefully, you can find a place for him to rest until he gets hungry and decides to go home.

I love the angelic curls on this little guy.

The Little Prince

Well, someday he’ll be King but for now walking around in a cape with fleur-de-lis is pretty cool. I’m rather partial to black and white images because of their power when combined with colorful graphics. I suppose it’s the same for photographers. Color is the standard but some shots just are better in black and white.

Such a big chair for a little girl! Sorry for the lack of recent posts. I’ve been building another site for embroidery transfer patterns, knitting, crocheting , quilting and sewing. In fact, I plan to use some of the graphics and convert them to embroidery transfers. Fun stuff!

First Communion

This is from 1893. She doesn’t look too happy but she’s probably supposed to look pious and one must keep very still to keep the crown from falling off. Click on the image for the full size.
